Patch 1.20 language/version question

I have the German collectors edition of GalCiv II; I'd like to download the patch, but I'm not entirely sure about this description:

Retail Update: v1.2
Update your retail boxed version of Galactic Civilizations II to the latest official released version: v1.2. Click here, here, and here to see what's new. You will need your serial # to use this. Previously registered/activated but lost your serial #? No problem type in your email address on this page.
IF you bought it in Italy, click here to update your serial. This update includes localizations for France, Germany, and Poland.

I suppose this means I need to get the Italian update; I'm just wondering whether that's correct as I'm a bit surprised I have to get the German update from an Italian site... or did I misunderstand what I quoted there, i.e. do I have to download the standard patch? Thanks for any help!
