Foreign relations

On the foreign relations screen, a minus point for my relations with other races is always "-militaristic". This is the first game where I have had a smaller military than my neighbours, but its still there. What does it mean then?

That your military is too small or its got to do with how they are pre-programmed to look at your race. Don't worry unless you are a very easy target, it shouldn't hurt you too much.

i generally seem to have that from almost start to finish of games regardless of whos got the bigger military, even with races that aint militaristic lol, i think its just something a little screwy maybe not working the way it should? dunno :S

This may have less to do with your military, and more to do with your political stance...what is your government? Where did you spend your research points at the beginning of the game, or which faction did you start with?

well i usually use a custom race or the terran, which could be reasons why, as custom races are "new and unknown" supposedly and the terran aint themost popular of th ebunch in any game i ever play, they kinda suck under ai control no matter what setting i put em on lol and usually everybody else seems to declare war on them as soon as weapons techs are available as if they all have a vendetta against em, so i dunno lol might be another reason why on mine

have you ever concidered that militaristic may be a trait of THAT race? i don't even notice it there, it is so ubiquitous. just treat it as and uncontrolable factor and make sure you are on par militarily with the toughest ai and you will likely be fine.

It's nothing to do with you. At the beginning of the game, all the AI are assigned certain traits. -militaristic means they will probably go for military conquest, and like to shoot stuff.
