One part of this skin I don't like .. can it be fixed?

I enjoy the windowblind skin smile. I am very new at this, so forgive my ignorance, and I hope I explain myself ok. Say I open windows explorer. If I highlight one of my folders, it is BLACK, and I can't read it? I hate the black. Is there a way to just make that part clear? I would appreciate any help. It is the same if I am on a site and it has a menu? When I click the one I want to pick, that choice is blacked out. Thank you in advance.

It says your a Master Apprentice......and your ID is definitely not new.
It would probably help if you'd upload a screenshot of the problem.

Wow. Just because I have had this for a good while does not mean anything. Maybe some people are timid and shy to post to a forum like this. I was. I can see now I won't be bothering again. ALL of your comments were degrading and humiliating. Thanks for nothing.

I do apologzie to Lantec. I guess you were not degrading to me, just embarrased me by making an assumption. I appreciate your reply thank you. Yes I am new. The only part of this I have ever used before was the desktop x. I had never done windowblinds, and I had hoped someone more experienced might offer a few words to help.
I apologize for intruding, I will go back to my dunce corner now.

Carrie,

I am sure they were just poking fun.

As for the black highlight, you would have a couple of avenues to try.

1 - If you "right-click an empty spot on desktop > Properties > Appearance tab > Advanced button > Other Advanced Controls button > in the "Item:" drop-down, select "Selected Items" and see if black is the color set - if so, try changing the color to a color that works for you (also make sure the font color is not the same as the color you picked for the "Selected Items") > click "OK", and then click "Apply".

Note - this may or may not stay after reboot. If not, then option #2.

2 - Install "SkinStudio" and open the skin to edit it, then select the areas you want to customize > make your changes > save.

Note - I will leave the details of this process up to the real skinners.

Hello SweetCherry! I really don't believe anyone meant to offend you...just their type of sarcasim. Though I could be wrong.   There is a way to correct what you want. I have downloaded the skin in question and understand what you mean. Though, you need to have SkinStudio to change the highlighting effects.

Open SkinStudio, on the left control selection panel there are two tabs, make sure Explorer is selected. Now expand the "Miscellaneous" option, click "colors", then go to the right Parameters Panel. Make sure the selection tab is selected, then scroll down to the "Selections" option, expand this if closed. Now you want to change the color of the "Background" option and the "Hot Tracking Color". To do this just select them and in the center Editing Panel there will be coloring options...I suggest a light colored green.

Once you have changed the color, File > Save AS > Re-Name the skin > Ok. There will be a dialoge box stating there are errors with the skin, click NO on this window. Voila! Problem Solved

Firefox borked my post ...sorry. Corky answered anyway

[Btw ...I perceived Bichur & StephenA's posts as trying to bring it to the attention of the site coders, as there appears to be some sort of glitch ...not to take a cheap jab at you, SweetCherry...]

...The delivery could have been better though

Thank you for those who took the time to help me
And to leave a nice comment . The problem is fixed,
and now I know how to do that for future problems
I did look in there to begin with, but if you have never
been in skin studio, it was a bit intimidating. I appreciate
everything again Thanks!

The sad part of this, is that instead of actually trying to help, the first thing a few of you did was check to see if she really was new... Who cares?  What's with the grilling?  "Oh, this person says they're new, I better check it out!"  That's so stupid.  Grow up people...

You bet it is, the first time. I suggest that you dabble a little in SkinStudio. You may find that after a few tries, you'll find something in any skin that you might want to change. As long as you don't misuse and upload a skin originally created by another, or just use that skin for you own PC...who knows, you could be the next great skinner!

SweetCherry, don't let this thread turn you off from Wincustomize and it's forums. I have found quite a lot of useful information browsing and posting. Just remember that those who post are from differing cultures, and you can't always "see" what someone's thinking or intoning to the words typed out on the screen.

Glad you have the problem solved! Happy Skinning!!!
