Econ Starbases and Trade Routes

Do modules that increase trade route income effect trade routes that pass through the starbases sphere of influence? Or do they increase income from all routes that pass through the same sector? And do they increase it on only on those turns that the freighter is in the sphere or is it averaged out over the whole route?

Is it therefore more advantageous(sp?) to place bases all along your route to overlap as much of the route as possible?

They only affect trade routes whose mini-freighters are currently in the starbase's radius.

The thing I sometimes wonder about is whether it affects the revenue you gain from trade routes formed by someone sending a freighter to you...

1. I always assumed the bonus applied to my own freighters.
2. I rarely use the trade modules. I never build a starbase for the purpose of trade modules. That's just me

Concerning my #1, I really don't know if it effects all freighters, just my freighters, or my freighters and foreign freighters bringing me money.

IIRC, somebody mentions sth abt constructing econ trade starbases along your desired trade route, construct one freighter and park it close to your home planet, and then sell/give them to the target civ. your revenue from that route would be boosted by those SBs, and yet they still give bonus to your existing trade routes as if the SBs are still yours... not so sure if i got this right.

also, what prevents the civ from sending the freighter elsewhere after you gave it to em? those ungrateful bastards... lol.

i guess one way to find out all the above questions is to play using the hotseat cheat... trade between your two civs and check the trade stats while you're controlling each civ.
