'Encountered a problem and needs to close'

Hi. I recently got IconX 1.1, but whenever I try to open it, a window pops up csaying 'DesktopX (yup, DesktopX not IconX) has encountered a problem and needs to close.' DesktopX closes, but IconX does not open. I click on IconX again, this time it says 'IconX has encountered a problem and needs to close. I reinstalled IconX many times with the same problem. Is it because it has a conflict with another Stardock program?

(I have Windowblinds, DesktopX, IconPackager and the Apogee Icon Suite by mormegil.)

Please help! Thanks!

You might try clearing the cache by deleting the DesktopX folder found in "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder.

*Make sure to unload DesktopX before clearing the cache.

It is recommended that you save your DesktopX theme as a "Desktop" before clearing the cache.

Note - there is no folder named "cache", this is just the generic term for the saved user preferences used by Windows to load the program in the way selected by the user. Clearing the cache removes the temporary user preference files and forces the relevant program to load with the default settings.

I wrote a mini tutorial here http://corkyo.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?AID=82461

This may or may not sort the issue. I suspect that IconX integrates with DesktopX to some degree when both are loaded, and the problem may stem from a preference in the currrent DesktopX cache that is not allowing for IconX.

All right, I'll try your suggestions. Thanks for helping!

EDIT: I cleared the DesktopX cache but it still didn't work, so I cleared the IconX cache. Now it works!

Thanks a lot! You're my hero! :)

Which .dll?

Trial version or ODNT version?
If trial, may be a bad download or your time has run out.
If not the time issue, try uninstalling, reboot, redownload, reinstall.

If ODNT version.
Did you install via disk or via SDC?
