Video Card Question

I'm just starting out with small to large galaxies and don't want to encounter problems when I'm ready for the Gigantic. Will I encounter problems with my Video Card? Card Name: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200

Would you recommend something else, and if so... what would work best for my system.

We've made alot of little tweaks in 1.2 to make gigantic games more bearable, but I think everyone gets some slow-down in late games with 1000+ ships flying around the galaxy at once.

I don't see your system having many problems though.

I have a FX5200 on a Dell Dimension... Game runs just fine. You have twice the RAM (I have 512MB) so you should be good to go.

Should be fine, although you might want to update your video drivers.

If you have trouble, try turning off anti-aliasing.

CariElf is right. I did turn the AA off. Looks great and runs great!

AA is off so I'm off to kick some Alien Butt!

Thanks, This forum is great! I'm glad there is a place to go, cause I'm sure to have questions with a game this huge. So far, it's been an awesome experience.

I have the same video card, and 3.1ghz processor with 1.5 gig of ram. The game runs fine, but the videos aren't working. They skip and play and pause then skip, it's annoying. I have the latest driver for the 5200 but it hasn't help the videos. Any one have some suggestions?

Background tasks, like virus software, can hamper game play.

I have been using the 81.98 drivers as well. They are fine for the game.

BUT, oh joy! 91.31 drivers were just released for XP Media Center. So I will be upping mine, finally.
