Boot skins issue...

Hi there, I have used boot skins a few times with the same result every time and havent used them since, but would like to resolve this issue since I know somone must know what that is. when I load a boot skin my computer crashes and then will only start up again in safe mode where I diable the boot skin and then I am fine. I am useing Win XP on an Emachines with all the latest updates if that matters =)

BootSkins are very tempermental. Try an earlier version, that might help.

Bootskin is not supported by StarDock. I think it's partly because of the nightmare it would be.

Uninstall 1.05a (if that's what you have and install 1.03. If that works, great. Otherwise uninstall and try 1.02.

Due to different BIOS, Bootskin doesn't play nice with everyone.

Not all computers will run BootSkin.  Some BIOS configurations, eg from OEM simply will conflict with it.

If any of the vers available do not work for you then you'll be out of luck....

I also have an eMachine, the only version of Bootscreen that works for me is 1.0, It's availible here somewhere, but I'm not sure where.

Hey thanx everyone I couldnt seem to find info on my problem anywhere I have no version installed now as I uninstalled it when my computer wouldnt run with it.

Latest ASUS BOARDS ....wILL NOT Run bootskins because they use the same startup files b4 the post ...
Now we can move forward with out stardocks support because the pg is a copy and not fully stardock lol ..asus are the main manufactures of bootskins .....Stardock stealed the idea lol...Good luck

bwmchubb, please take your comments and cram it with walnuts. When you would like to come back with the program or the company (apart from Microsoft with Windows Vista) that attempted to make high-resolution boot screens for the Windows OS available, then perhaps we'll hold a conversation about timelines.

POST bootscreens will not be part of that.
