Racial bonuses not applied

or at least not correctly

Just for fun, I edited a raceconfig file, giving 1000% bonus for various things. I noticed a few things:

- The production bonus is not carried over from social to military production! If social production is being used, it has the bonus (10 times the amount). But, if social production is idle, there is no bonus to the idle amount. Instead, the low (quite low, without the 1000% bonus) amount is added directly to the military production, where it doesn't receive a bonus either. The net effect is that a planet with spending set to, oh say, 50/50/0, and with social production idling, will have only about half the military production of the same planet with spending set to 100/0/0. Focusing on military production still doesn't fix this, not completely anyway (only for the part of the spending that is redirected from social to military).

In summary: if you have idle social production, it gets redirected to military, but without production bonuses applied to it. Of course, this could be intentional, and it probably amounts to a much smaller difference with the typical racial production bonuses than with 1000%, but still..

- The defense bonus is applied to starbases, however, the attack bonus is not applied at all. This *could* be on purpose, but I thought I'd mention it. Of course, with 500+ defense in every category, nobody could even scratch the base. But the 3 times 65 attack value was underwhelming.

Interesting post!

Can you give a 1000% boost to Creativity, Courage, and Luck?

Yes you can. Or 10,000%, or whatever you wish.

As an addition to the earlier bonus stuff: racial defense bonus is not applied to ships in orbit! I still have to check whether this is always the case, or only when you have a certain improvement built on a planet (any planet then, though).

Oh, and the social build queue is wrong about the time left to finish buildings. If you have a huge production bonus, it will say something will be done in a few weeks, while in reality it's ready the very next turn.

Social and military were done that way deliberately to prevent people using cheese tactics. Specifically, not transferring the social bonus prevents people from concentrating on just the social racial ability and receiving the same benefit for military.

It's a bit annoying that the base amount that gets transferred doesn't get the military bonus though! I don't see how that's cheesy.

However, there is a partial solution...the racial bonuses *are* applied to production that gets transferred using the focus buttons. So if you have 99% social, 1% military, then hitting the focus military button will get you 2/3 of the base social production, which doesn't get the military bonus, plus another 1/3 which does get the bonus.

I take back what I said about bonuses not being applied to ships in orbit. It appears that the same thing that causes orbiting ships to have higher attack values, also causes troop transports to always have 1-1-1 defenses, even if they are heavily armed by themselves. I thought the bonus was not applied because the base defense of the ship was 1-1-1, which became 1001-1001-1001 with a 100,000% or so bonus, but in orbit it was 'back' to 1-1-1. In fact, a ship with base defenses 2-2-2 and a troop module also has 1-1-1 defenses while in orbit.
