Losing Trade Goods

I trade for them, get them then they are gone

I trade for tradgoods like aphrodisiac from the Dregs. They no longer have it and I don't either. Is this a bug or am I just retarded?

No, you have it. You aren't allowed to trade it, and since you have it it's not listed in the trade window. You get the item not the building.

Okay, so even if I can't see it on my side I have it?

Hmm... so once you buy the trade good you are stuck with it? Can't sell it back even to Dreg?

Also, I am still experiencing a bug where I can't start new threads. It is detailed here. I hope stardock fixes this.

Only the race that owns the building representing the trade good has the right to "license" the use of the trade good to another race. Since you bought the use of it, (and not conquered the planet the building sits on) you don't have the right to license to anyone else, (no piracy allowed)it won't show up on your trade screen. Also, since you and the Dregnin have the use of it, it doesn't show up on their side of the trade screen (only things that one side has that the other doesn't have shows up).

Note: Yes, if you conquer the planet that has the building on it, the ownership rights transfer as well. (which is a difference from GC1, BTW)

If you capture an enemy world with a trade good, and disband the colony, the enemy cannot capture it back. You are still able to use and trade it as if it was still in your possession. =D

So the trade good bonuses still apply to me even if I sell the trade good to someone else?

Yes. You can also sell it to multiple civilisations.

Click the disband colony button in planetary info.

think of trade goods more like an auxilary kind of technology (the bonus) with a copyright on it (the planetary structure). once you have the technology, you won't lose it no matter who controls the copyrights. but unless you gain control of the copyright (planet its on), you cannot control how it's distributed to other empires.

i wish there were a way to tell what trade goods a particular race had. not just which ones theyve built, but if theyve traded for any of the others or not.

does this also apply to wonders? that's kind of cheap/ exploitable: build all the unique structures, abandon the colonies, and re-colonize them to make use of the tiles again.

Hi!
build all the unique structures, abandon the colonies, and re-colonize them to make use of the tiles again.

After one abandons a planet its PQ drops, and planet also losses green tiles.
