5000 soldiers causes lost of 5M colonies

I have 5 advance troop pods on ship. This holds 5000 soldiers for invasions. But as I load the soldiers, I lose 5 million in population on the planet. Is this a bug in the game. I verified these are advance troop pods and not colony pods on the ship. The screen also states 5000 soldiers. Sorry if this was on the forum befor, but I can't find it. Any one else seeing this in game.

This is not a bug. Your troops come out of the population of the planet. 5000 troops = 5 million soldiers.

It is actually 5000 legions of troops, not merely 5000 troops.

I havn't played the game in quite a while but im pretty certain it would be 5000 million troops, the planet's population being counted in the billions.

Or it could be that it takes 5 million people to make 5000 combat troops possible. It's not just the guys with the guns that make up an army. I'd imagine the logistical tail of an interstellar capable planetary invasion force to be quite a bit different from your carrier group/naval task force in the here and now...from shipyards and basic training to the frontlines, that is
