Possible Range Bug..

Maybe Im missing something, but this is whats going on:

1 "square" = 1 sector ?
So, if my ship says "range 2sct" so it mean 2 sectors, but how comes, the ship can move 4 "squares" away from the next planet/starbase?

Squares are parsecs. The big squares, the ones that stay when you hit Ctrl-G, are sectors.

So in theory, a ship with a stupidly huge range - e.g. 30 - 40 sectors (if you cheat and make you miniaturization skill very high, and the life support modules very cheap) should be able to go from one side to the other on the map.

I tried it, and it doesn't work on mine. There is still some area on the map that can only be gotten to when a starbase is built.

There's a hard limit on range.

Still no idea how it works. If big square = parsec and small square = sector, the ships range is measured by SCT (not PSC), so it should be a small square, but 2sct means at least 4 big squares... confising... and weird

Big squares are Sectors, small squares are Parsecs.
Range is measured in Sectors (big squares).

Speed determines how far a ship can travel in a single turn, and it is measured in parsecs, which are the small squares.

Range determines how far the ship can move beyond an occupied planet or starbase, and it is measured in sectors, which are the large squares.

And there is an upper limit to range that will not change no matter how much life support you add.

i think life support should be measered by parsects whether than by secters becouse i think that you have to much range to start with anyways

i mean my flag ship can run half the gigiantic universe on the first turn

and that is just to far

ok so I tought it is the right way.... my question is legal: how comes a ship with 2sct range can surpas 4 big squares?

The ship can travel two sectors in either direction. Thus, it can travel within a circle with a diameter of 4.

are you sure? sorry for the sarcasm. Im talking about 4 sectors in one direction... in earyl game, I have a planet, 1 sector away is the civ border, I got a ship, it reads "range 1,7sct" but it can move 4 sectors away from the borderworld, no diameter, nothing, just a straight radius from the last world in any direction.

How many movement points does the ship have?

4

So you can move a max of 4 small squares per turn, which is 4 parsecs, not 4 sectors.

BIG squares... said that a couple times

It appears that sectors in reference to range are measured by the diagonal across the sector, not the side as you would think. It also appears there is a base minimum given to all ships of 0.5

As the default flagship you get on a sandbox game has a range of 1.5 can cross 1.5 squares diagonally (corner to corner), though around 3.5 following the lines
