I Can't Stop!

Incredibly Basic Question!

Hi.

I am making a Gadget with Desktop X Pro.

I am completely self taught and have Enormous Gaping Holes in my knowledge of the basics!!!

That said, I have had no trouble getting everything I want working via experimentation and reverse engineering the provided examples from Stardock (the ones that I assume are given for that purpose and Permission given!)

But...

I can't seem to get a "Close" button working!!

It is terribly frustrating.

All I can do is start it running but to get it to go away I need to right click and delete it (and then I get Runtime errors!).

Would such things be covered if I bought a book on VBScript?

I learned programming a Very long time ago (I was punching cards!) and things have changed!

Any help with just this one problem, or pointers to good VBScript Tutorials would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for reading this.

Peace

I learned the hard way that the close button doesn't work until you export the widget/gadget. There is not pre-export test.

WOW!

Thanks for the informative and Very Quick response!

I never thought to test that!

I'll give it a try.

I may have trouble as I am not sure I have isolated the proper command, but this helps tremendously!

I'll ask if I need more help.

Thanks again!

It's pretty easy to close a widget using DX.
Create a close object, change the object type to Widget |Widget Close. Group it with your other objects and export.

Thanks so much!

It was the exporting that was the problem.

In retrospect it makes sense!

It is not a program yet while it is being created, so a close program command can not work!

I was stuck on that for an embarrassingly long time!

(That's my "Relief" smiley I made) (I made the Peace sign one above as well!)
