Precursor Library (700% research)! Pics inside! and savegame!

BWAHAHA! Got you.

Ok, so I stretched the truth. I have no pics, and outside the data files have never seen a precursor library. I've seen the logo in files, I've seen the .xml somewhere, but never the thing.

If you have ever had a library, please post a pic or (prefferably) a savegame if you have one. I REALLY want to see, because people claiming to have ever had one a few and far between. So, a massive call to arms (well, fingers) for the screenshots!

Oh, and I apologise for the exclamation marks. Hey, at least it wasn't all caps! /vainattempttohidebump

yea well its clearly a joke. plus the research thing was a giveaway, mines give production, not research.

but yea, that precursor library is so rare its pratically mythical or legendary.

like the golden city of the Xercai empire which is rumored to have unimaginable riches, but nobody can find it. (sort of an interstellar El Dorado)

Wait, that was an actual typo (kicks self)

You know, in the loading hint screen, it tells you about planetary tile bonuses.

Check out that screen, you can see a triangle-shaped bonus unlike any other. On Earth. I think that's a precursor library.

Kanil, thats a 300% research bonus, the bonus we are talking about is a 700% bonus.

Typo fixed.

And yeah Kanil, it could be. But a lot of stuff like that is a tad outdated. Maybe it's bugged, or an injoke? damn the injokes!

Go to this folder and view as thumbnails.

The Precursor Library looks kinda like a yellow garbage can.

I have never seen one in the game, and I really think the dev's should fix it so that at least a few show up from time to time.

Its not a trash can. It is a scroll. And not knowing it was so rare, I have had several of these. (had I known, I would have posted a screen shot) What I cant understand is why there are no planetary improvements for financial industries. We have research, manufacturing, food production, and influence attractions but nothing that offers a boost in money production.
A few examples of money production planet improvements would be... gold and diamond mines. Because of its geopolitical / financial location to other planets in the area, you may have a tile that offers a bonus to finances. How about a something like a worlds fair but in this case a galaxy fair. Anyway there are all kinds of creative ways to add financial bonus planet improvements to the game.
Another idea would be to make the improvements contingent to something. IE... You capture a planet. On the planet you see a manufacturing bonus tile. But under closer examination you see that until you research a certain tech or techs, you will receive no or limited bonuses. Upon achieving the research required for the bonus tile you obtain full benefits.
Example, you get planet, you see that there is a manufacturing bonus tile, but it says that you must have researched x,y, and z and have the suitable researched building in place on the tile for the benefits to happen. Makes the game a bit more challenging and adds some strategy to the game.

I've also never seen that "minerals deposit" icon.

It's an unrolled scroll on two sticks..I think.

Lyndy62, if you have it on a save from a previous game or you discover it again...please find this post in the "Everything" Forum Links or use the search with the title of this post and show it to us....please.

smjjames: There's several bonus tiles on that screen. Check on the right side, there's some silvery triangle thing.

Wow. Upon further examination I've noticed that this post may be the only one that you have created Marcathonas; although I did not go way back in history.

That is just the ruins. An influence bonus for the Embassy. It's common.

Me too. It seems that they both were made maybe a little too rare in the game.

If MrCrush could tell the offset of the precursor library
Reply #18 Top
Never had one either

u've found an entry in an XML file?? i can't even find an XML entry for any of the tile bonuses... mind sharing the file path and name?
I started a post asking about the library's existance a month ago no one saw it then either. So either this is rarer than Jimmy Hoffa after 1970 or its been removed from the game for balancing issues.

Well, there are entries for the precusor library in the images directories and the file english.str, but I haven't yet managed to see where the associated bonus is defined.

Incorrect. I suggest you have a look at it again. It is some sort of silvery-triangle thing, on the right side of the "Tile Bonus" hint screen when loading a game.

It is *not* the ruins. Anyone know what it is?
Wade, I've made a few, but not many.

And I was thinking of English.str, not .xml when I said about seeing it. I know I have seen a text mention of it somewhere, and you saw MrCrush modded the game to use them.

However, we have one (unconfirmed) use of one, if lyndy can get the save or screenshot that will be excellent. I have had literally hundreds of mines, they pop up everywhere, especially on large+ maps. But never a library.
I had a lot of precurser mines but not a single library.
I think i even got more +700 productions tiles than +300 tiles (or at least almost as many)

I'm guessing the precursor library is so rare its legendary/pratically mythical like the golden city of the Xercai empire which is rumored to have unimaginable riches, but nobody can find it. (sort of an interstellar El Dorado).

but the only way to know for sure if its been removed from the game or if its just incredibly rare is to ask one of the devs.
