Failure to Launch (the game, I mean)

Was doing fine until I updated my nvidia drivers. Now I get a blank screen, a pause, the mouse cursor disappears, and the game is locked. ctrl-alt-delete to exit back to desktop. I went back to the old drivers (on cd) and everything was kosher. No debug file generated. Any suggestions?
