What does Control N Do

I heard it can give you an advantage?  What does it do?  How does it work?

In another post is states

Control N... instead of regenerating a map, it takes me to metaverse log in screen.

Which I guess means it regenerates the map so if you do not like your start you can try again.

I have yet to try it myself. Suppossedly there is a bug relating to this command when trying to play on metaverse.
My thinking is if you get a bad start then you get a bad start. That is life deal with it. Just like you. If you were born with money, nice parents with no mental, physical, or emotional problems then yeah for you, if not deal with it.

The metaverse bug listed ctrl+n as a cheat (which most of the time it is). Some people use it to help the AI get a better start, or to relocate themselves. Most just ctrl+n until they get a great start like a few +700% tiles. I tried it on one game, and it wasn't very fun with the stupid advantages I got.

I agree with hockeyrama. Shit happens, get over it and play. It takes a very good player to play suicidal. It takes a great player to play suicidal without using ctrl+n to get a homeworld capable of a huge-hulled ship every turn.

i usually just exit and start over again.
not to get a better start but i sometimes start in a corner with like 3 planets max and no way i can reach the rest in time while all the others have like 20 planets each. any player starting this way is doomed.
i believe this was fixed in 1.1 though, doesn't happen to me much anymore.

I use it in games harder then Crippling.....i figure with the AI's bonuses it's a small slice of the Cheat Pie

doesnt log you out so much takes you back to the login screen you then can jus thit next all the way through and it remembers your settings and then regens the map.

I never had the patience to ctrl-n enough to get bonuses. lol. But I will use it to get a 'decent' start. Insert shameless plug for map script modding.

hmm so Ctrl+N is a form of a cheat. Not as good mind you as Alt+F4 when it comes to regenerating a map.

Heh yep I'm an Evil Player especially with the Shredder Tech..
