Version 1.11 Bugs so far
Plus a rant ooh Boy! :)
from
GalCiv2 Forums
1) Sometimes on a big map with a lot of planets, when producing a lot of ships or having a lot of planets with completed planet queues, the Information Icons on the right DO NO SHOW UP. This is incredibly annoying because I HEAVILY rely on the completed Icons that run the right side of the screen. And I thusly have to go through the NOW SUPER SLOW Civ Management screen (since 1.1), click a planet, make it build something, then wait another 2 minutes for it to re-load the Civ Management screen and repeat this 50 times. And if I have 30 ships that are completed I have to do this through the Ship/Planet list, sorting by moves left, clicking a ship, launching it, and sending it on it's way; >OR< looking for the little shield Icons assuming those planets don't have other ships in orbit. GRRRRRRRRRRRR
2) Sometimes completed ships and empty planet queue icons fly by on the right side of the screen (top to bottom) even when on the planet/ship design/colony management screen. Which is an indication that #3 below is happening.
3) Sometimes only a partial list of completed icons shows up on the right side of the screen. Usually going into the Save/Load screen and back out makes the missing ones appear but not since 1.1. Sometimes I have 3 Icons sitting in the middle of the right hand side with none below or above them. Again, usually going into the Svae/Load screen and back out fixes this but not since 1.1.
4) Sometimes when Constructors build on a starbase and you choose what module to build and hit accept, the module is NOT built and the constructor just parks in the same parsec as the Starbase. Usually happens when I have quite a few constructors going to a starbase on Autopilot-Rally Point. Then 5 or so later it shows the "bugged" constructors in the bottom right as Available Constructors and lets me use them and actually BUILD the modules.
5) Sometimes when a ship is completed and the planet has a rally point to send the ship to, the Autopilot launches the ship but then it just sits there with No Destination listed. Really noticeable thanks to the pain-in-the-ass Autofucus er focus
that points out the ship has unused movement. Most ships work fine but theres sometimes 30% that just autolaunch and then sit there. This is, again, on big maps with a lot of stuff being produced. And this is without ANY change to the Rally Point Location.
6) Sometimes completed Ship or Empty Planet Queue buttons on the right are actually my Interface Color. This only lasts one turn at which point the ship icons revert to Blue and planet to Green.
IE: Ship & Planet icons are Yellowfor one turn then next turn are Blue and Green.
7) Sometimes when moving a rally point the ships heading to that rally point end up with No Destination and just sit there scratching their ass. This occurs EVEN AFTER I have gone into the manager and updated all the rally points. All ships going to Attack should now go to Attack then Update. All Colony rally points going to Attack should now go to Attack then Update them. Sometimes causes #5 above as well.
Now don't get me wrong. I haven't said this enough but Stardock has done an incredible job and I love the game. I >LOVE< patches. And I >LOVE< frequent patches even more.
I don't mind things like Secret Police centers not working properly or weapons being wacked cost/dmg wise. I can get over those and/or fix them myself >IF< I can properly manipulate what does work.
But there is something that really, really, really, is making me play less and severely aggrivating me. And even making me >NOT< want to buy anything else in the future.
And that is the CLUNKY (yes I said Clunky) and overly time-consuming UI. The above problems along with things like:
A) The gosh-danged Auto-Focus
Overly repetitive clicking to decomission things (Click, Select decomission, move click Demolish and then REPEAT A BILLION TIMES)
C) Upgrading individual ships (Click stack, move one parsec out, and then upgrading)
D) Going into the Civ manager, sorting a column, then onto a planet, exiting back and have to RE-SCROLL to find where I WAS PREVIOUSLY on the list
E) Same as D) but with the Ship/Planet list.
F) The Dead-Zone on the minimap, that when clicking on it to move the view there ENDS THE FREAKING TURN!
G) The dead zone to the upper left of the mini-map on the MAIN SCREEN that doesn't allow you to click anything there.
H) The uber lag when fleeting/un-fleeting ships.
I) The general problems of bad descriptions and things not working like the GAME says they should (Government Type Bonuses, Production time errors, Income/expenditure miscalcs, etc..)
Now they HAVE fixed and improved a ton of things. You guys Rock!
But there are quite a few things that >I< myself can fix. And I wonder why the Dev team can't? It is quick and simple. Things that are not going to be used, then REMOVE. Things that are typos or simple cost/damage errors just fix. There are a lot of people that just do this themselves. And 99% of them are not Developers OR programmers
There are things people complain and complain and complain about that are still there (like Auto-Focus and have had ZERO people say they like that option).
And there are things that keep being brought up, and brought up, and brought up, and brought up, on the forums and still have nothing done about them. Yet we get things like:
+ New AI option - allow AI to use more CPU. Not used yet but will be in future builds.
+ Some research oriented techs are more expensive
+ Some text string changes
While this is GREAT, It's like changing the the oil 500 miles before its time, while the Brakes are almost non-existant.
The game is very time consuming assuming everything is working 100% AND streamlined. But it's 2-3 times MORE time consuming if the interface is counter-intuitive.
It is not nearly as obvious on small maps. But on the big ones it becomes tedious and even sometimes PHYSICIALLY PAINFUL. Maybe we can file a lawsuit for pain and suffering? J/K
Lets say I am building a computer. I have this sweet badass O/S that totally blows everything away. But it only runs with MY hardware. But my keyboard prototype has some non-functioning or keys that act strangely. My motherboard has some relay issues. My powerplant sometimes surges. Now while that O/S is awesome and would change the way we use computers, IT WONT ROCK IF I CAN'T USE IT PROPERLY OR WITHOUT HASSLES.
Again Great Job to EVERYONE at SD for a great game. The attention to people on the forums is awesome and the honest attempts at improvement give me great hope for the future.
I just hope my desire to play lasts long enough to see the issues fixed/improved and to motivate me to purchase future expansions and/or products.
