Random Events

So, your thoughts?

Hey guys. I've been playing Galactic Civilizations 2 for a while now, and it's getting to the point where I'm thinking it's broken. I very rarely get ANY sort of random event that isn't related to an ethical choice. I read you're meant to be able to get random events that unleash the Dread Lords, or that independent planets are forming a union, or that some crazy cult is unleashing a monster. Where's all that? The only random event, apart from that, that I've gotten is Precursor ships and (once) an assassin causing war between me and the Terrans. Is it meant to be this infrequent? If so, maybe there needs to be a selection at the beginning of the game that lets you choose how often you want random events.

That's my two cents. And I could be wrong.

I suspect recent patches toned down the frequency as I too see far fewer events than I did with vanilla

I'd like to see ramdom events happen more often too. Specifically I'd welcome a new set of mini-random events with low impact (unlike the existing ones).
These events could include things like:
-Finding a wrack in space which can be transformed into 1000bc, or corrupt gouverners stealing money from you
-Alien race catching one of your spies, relation decreases by one level
-Random space monsters (Or dread lords) suddenly appear to attack
-Hyperspace dysfunction: Ships can't enter Hyperspace for a couple of turns and therefore can't travel
-Planet bonuses (Production or ressearch) suddenly increas by 10 % or so, because new ressources have been
discovered on the planet.

Of course the list could be extended endlessly. That would add some salt to game.

I wonder if this would be valid as an option, such as Number of Planets or Number of Anomalies. Something like that where you could set the frequency of random events in the game setup. Thoughts?

Finding a wrack in space which can be transformed into 1000bc

that already exists in the anomalies, I often get 2500bc anomalies... in the early game, I've almost come to expect it

I want more surprises. Vengence? Oh! I know how to handle this one. Ultimate power? Yup, know that too.

But a Space Dragon (MOO2, forgive) that is rapidly approaching my planet with one of several different possible goals? I'd love the terror of having to plan for the unknown but certain unfortunate event.

Hehe, you cought me
Indeed I played MOO2 a damn lot. No matter I'd like these mini events in GalCiv just as much.

Hey with the new patch I also get less minor races. Hardly make it to two anymore.

Man, what a bummer. I love those frog face guys!.
