Want free stuff in the game? Her's a trick (heads up Stardock ;-) )

Trading ships without loosing them

Hi everyone

Recently I played a game on a small map and wanted to aid the Altarians against the Drengin.
In the diplomacy window I traded all of my combat ships to the Altarians (I had recently made peace with the Drengin). To my surprise I still had control over the ships.
I waited a turn and still had control. I think I know why

I had placed a transport in each fleet of combat ships and I hadn't traded them away.

So, in conclusion: To get Tech's and other stuff from your enemy place some valuable ships in fleets with other ships and then trade them away to someone. Wait to next turn and do it again!
Be fast because Stardock is sure to catch this one

On another note I experienced something cool: I had lined a lot of ships up around some of the Altarian's planets ready to exterminate them and suddenly I get a message from them saying that they know what I am doing, but can't do anything about it because they weren't "intelligent" or smarter How cool is that!

Unless it's changed, you can't trade ships when they're in a fleet, so you probably never traded those particular ships in the first place.

I have gotten the message that "if only they were more intelligent they would wipe me out", to that effect.

I think they are hinting that the game needs to be set on a higher AI level.

Yeah, ships in a fleet are untradable. You never traded those ones away.

And yes, it taunts you if you don't let it use all it's algorithms. I like my own "edited" taunts, which range from snobbery from the Altarians, sarcasm from the Arceans, and a tirade of abuse from the Drengin.

Shame I never get to hear them though

Really? I still got the techs...
Anyway, it would make more sense not to allow trading of ships in fleets. Thanks for the info
