Webblinds question

?Application error?

No matter what skin I use for weblinds i get an iexplore.exe -application error "the instruction at 0x640143bf" refferenced memory at"0x73e7f80c". The memory could not be "read"????/
What does this mean and how do I go about fixing it? I used to know of 1 skin that didn't do this but now I dont know which one it was? Any thought would be great!
Thanx!

That type of message usually means that another program is set in the registry to use that address.

Since you are referring to 'webblinds' (the toolbar skinning part of WindowBlinds), I would suspect that there may be a add-on for Internet Explorer and/or Windows Explorer using that address.

Your best bet would be to reinstall WindowBlinds (unload WB > save skin folders to a temp folder > uninstall WB > reboot > reinstall WB with no other programs loaded except your firewall and anti-virus). Note - deselect any extra toolbars in Internet Explorer and/or Windows Explorer by right-clicking the main toolbar and removing any checkmarks temporarily for install.

Hopefully this will allow WB to establish the right to use that address.

Corky_O is wrong, Webblinds is not the toolbar skinning part of WindowBlinds.

Webblinds is a standalone IE addin which can skin IE using WB skins.

Are you using IE6 or a beta of IE7?

Thanx guys!

I am using ie 6, always had this problem , even just done some complete reinstalls after a reinstall of windows, same problem, and I do believe I installed weblind b4 I even used explorer, so yes i also believed that wasnt the right answer as well? Too bad they dont have weblinds as forum section here anymore. Do you know which skins do not produce this result, if ya dont know the resolution?

Thanx again

Webblinds hasn't been supported in years.

From the products page ( https://www.stardock.com/products/webblinds/ ):
IMPORTANT: WebBlinds is no longer supported or available as part of Object Desktop. For existing customers who previously had access to it via ODNT, you can contact sales@stardock.com to be able to download a copy. Registered users of the standalone version can use the form on the Support page to be sent an email with their download link and serial number.

There is however, a Web Blinds library: https://www.wincustomize.com/Skins.aspx?LibID=11 Last skin created for it: 1/19/2003

Yes I believe we all know this much. Doesn't anyone use this anymore, or have the same problems as me?
Someone out there must have a fix! Even use windowblinds skins options gives same results???????

I use when I use IE (gotta have a happy Throbber) - haven't had that error - but haven't used it since I reformatted a while back

Do you also have WindowBlinds or just Webblinds?  Which version of Webblinds? Do you also get that error with skins from 2003 and earlier?

Do you have any 3rd party toolbars/hot bars/etc?  Do you also have tweakxp or tweakui for the throbber?  Any of the other toolbar painters? I used to have 1 or 2 but can't remember the names. They allowed you to use your own bmp to repaint the toolbar. Had conflict once in a while after I got Webblinds so I got rid of them back in '03.

I am using widowblinds 5.0, webblinds ver. 106106. Not sure about that using old skins thing never tried it. Maybe that is the best thing to try! I have tweakui, but are not using it to change the explorer as I planned to use webblinds, but you are correct, there is options for throbbers in there, and actually also in new tweakui you can even change the toolbar bmp as well I guess i'll have to switch to that!

I'm at work - no outside products - but I'll run WebBlinds tonight and see what happens.

Do you have SDC? Webblinds shows up in SDC for me.  If it shows for you, try archiving/uninstalling/reinstalling via SDC if you haven't already.

I generally have Webblinds set on 'default' for all - and then use it for throbbers when the skin via WB doesn't include one.

Are you picking a skin via Webblinds with Windowblinds running? Just tried that and it was really crappy looking...didn't look right at all.

But I didn't get an error message. Webblinds 106106

I'm thinking the directskin from 2004 is slightly different than now.
