A dull close fight

We need some mechs!!!

In one of my better games, i was the supreme overlord of the galaxy but when i started conquering worlds
I saw the closes battles and then skiped em

cause the only thing that changes when you get the shoc troops or the space marines
are the little numbers in the screen that tells you if youre going to win so Why look the battle

In the game shoulb be a grafical change when you have better techs in soldiering
i mean the space marines should add damage to the sb or if you have planetary bombardment, some beams from the sky make the effect, the shock troops at least with beams of different color

and of curse the mechs, every space age games shold have some mechs and a mech tech tree

I agree that the invasion graphics are weak and uninteresting. I usually skip all battles as well, however I don't think it’s enough of a problem to warrant an update.

Worrying about what is happening with the grunts on the ground is not the business of a "supreme overlord of the galaxy", as long as his grunts beat the enemy's grunts.

Maybe but watching your troops routing the enemy is a very apropiate amusement of the "Supreme Overlord of The Galaxy" thats why i need better grafics to feel like im spreading fear and despair to the universe, not only tiny red lines and missiles that doesnt hit anything in a very small rectangle with buzzings

im not asking for a minigame or a way to control the battle in real time. just add animations for the upgrades in the planetary invasion tech tree

I think there's definately scope for improving the graphics - I also always skip the 'limp slowly towards enemy getting zapped' animation. I only use minisoldiers anyway, though.

PS Mechs are the worst idea for a ground combat vehicle ever.

Ok ok maybe the mech part wasnt a very good idea (I still think it would be great)
but bye example if theres tactics to attack a planet, then it should be tactics to defend it

maybe like a game of rock, paper... you get the point
if you use a defense option that is good against your attacker the you get a bonus against that attack
and if you use the wrong one then the defense is not so effective like the real war
cause we all want more realism in the battle

Yes realism and mechs
You can't deny its a good idea

That'd be interesting... particularly if you could link defence tactics to buildings or something. Then designing ships and defending planets would be a metagame between you and the nearest civs.

Also, they need to fix the AI planet assault decisions. If I leave one planet defenceless in the center of my area, they will ALWAYS send all their transports there, through all my defences. They get minced, even though the ships they used for escort could have killed the defences at a border world and capped THAT.
