have I made an error?

Greetings,

I do not have inet connection at home, so I installed and activated the game here at work. Have I made an error? Can I copy and bring the file sig.bin home? Obviously I can not play the game at work, nor can I leave it installed here for long. What to do if I want to play the updated version at home? Shall I bring my PC to a friend with inet and activate again? HELP ME PLEASE!

You can install the game on as many computers that you own as you want without breaking anything or doing anything illegal.

But a copy will not work, afaik the sig.bin contains information on your computer, so if you copy this file you will need to reactivite the game.

I think you can choose an "archive" option from Stardock Central, which will put the game into a form you can just put onto a CD and take home with you.

Yes, you can archive it in SDC then find the appropriate zip file sunder SDC's directory in program files/stardock and copy them to a CDR, etc. But you will need to activate it at home to play. If you don't have internet at home, you'll need to copy a long code to removable media and take it back to work where you can email it to SD in exchange for a sig.bin you can use. If you do have internet at home, you just put in your email and serial the first time you play and (if everything works correctly) never again.

Hmm, bad news indeed. So simply I must put inet connection from my second PC to my gaming PC, which I wanted to be off line all the time. Great. I was happy that I do not have to have a copy protection. Now I need inet. I hope that at least if I activated the game here at work, I will still be able to do it at home again.

You don't need Internet on your second PC. Just send your serial number to activate@stardock.com and they'll send you back a sig.bin for your non-connected system. More details can be found in this Knowledgebase article:
