Features Desired (or I can't Find 'em)

There are a couple of things that I would like added.

First, I cannot find a way to upgrade ships in a stack or fleet or at a planet. I have to get a ship into a tile by itself to get access to an Upgrade button (unless I upgrade a whole class). Can't you add a way to get around this cumbersome method? Or clue me in if one already exists.

Second, there are some screens that leave me a little disoriented. For instance the planetary production screen - how about a mini-map that shows where the planet is?

Ship design - when designing a ship there does not seem to be a way to see what I have already put on it. The display of equipment tiles across the top of the ship screen is not real informative. There is no pop-up info if you hover over the tile. And selecting the tile does not cause the component to highlight over on the master list of components on the left hand side of the screen. I can't find out what it is without uninstalling it and then re-installing it.

Also, if the planets/stars on the mini-map had ownership colors it would REALLY help. These UI things would really help make the game smoother.
Thanks.

There are ownership colors you can set for the mini-map. I think it is the second down on the left.
You can also edit the Prefs.ini file to show them.

Those colors are for controlled areas (i.e. borders) not for planets or stars. As a result, you could have a number of alien planets inside your border that generate insufficient influence to show up on the map. They are a pain to find. Hence the desire for planetary control colors.

if you really want to know where something on a custom ship pull it up in the ship yard use the equipment bar and click the pic of it there than the hole ship will darken exept for that piece

I strongly agree with the first two, both very annoying.

I love the game, but I also agree with the first 2. I believe in Galciv I you could see where the planet was located relatively easy in the planetary production screen. Also, not only is it hard to upgrade ships in a stack, but you have to move constructors to a tile by themselves to get the "Construct" button to show. Maybe 1.2 could address these issues.

As far as planet ownership colors... It does have that... at least the Demo does.
On the mini map the Altarian planets are blue, the Arceans yellow and the Drengin red... Is this different in the original release?
