Sparse Problems and a Question

Great game, of course; i just have a few questions/suggestions. Sorry if this is in the wrong place but these forums arn't exactly crystal clear.

Maybe i just havn't played long enough but it really bugs me that the class 0 planets are nothing more than 1 parsec obstacles. I'd really like to see them given purpose not in the management side of the game but in the strategic/tactical battle side. Perhaps stations that can cause ships to go slower around a 4 parsec radius or something of that nature. Maybe even the ability to terraform an entire planet into a useful one (naturally costs a lot, proportinal to final grade?)

Also some way to give purpose to stars; techs that allow you to gather power from them or something. ANYTHING really.

Also had a question: any way to declare war without actually attacking? I looked everywhere (or thought i did) but can't find it. Could be useful when your strategy is defensive/luring.

Great game, can't wait for 1.1. Thanks.

No way to declare war, and I doubt class 1's and stars will be used, they're there for realism.

Put a "few" ships and trooptransports around their planets.. Let them declare war on you. Great if you have an alliance

I was thinkin the same thing about the planets. What if you could put X ammount of ships into orbit around the planet. Could be good from a war POV or even a servey ship so u can watch you enemies. The stars thing is a good idea too.

Well considering the planets are about the same size as the STARS and considering they are only 1-2 parsecs away and ALWAYS in the same orbital belt... Oh and the fact they don't actually Orbit. How much more realistic can you get

yeah yeah yeah.

But if you play with abundant in the habitable planets, there'll be way less zero planets

doesn't even need to be terraforming; just some sort of strategic (or maybe even tactical) advantage in fighting near a planet that you own regardless of whether you have a population there. Planets can be 0 grade but it'll still be possible to use them. I was thinking along the lines of what stations already do; effects that affect objects within a certain area. perhaps fighting near a planet you own with a certain "building"/"satellite" around it will slow enemy ships while not slowing yours (interdictor field?) But i'm sure the creative team of stardock could come up with much better ideas; that's just to get the point across. Something similar with stars also; movement limited around them? For now there is no real strategic battle planning besides borders, battle stations and the fact that you can't be on the same square as a planet.
