I think there is a problem with the Dark Yor AI

In my current game, I destroyed a mining starbase belonging to the Dark Yor. I only wanted the military recource that they were mining, and of course this began a war with the Dark Yor. After a few turns I offered them a peace treaty, in exchange for a peace treaty from them, their only planet, Dark Yor III, and all of their money. They accepted and that was the end of the Dark Yor.

This has happened with them before so if they are in any games that you (anyone reading this) have, attack them, then offer a peace treaty in exchange for their planet and as much cash as they will give you. If you have any sort of decent military power, they should agree.

I'm not sure that any race should give up their last and only planet in exchange for a peace treaty. It's basically surrendering.

What do you expect from a race that looks like a purple version of South Park's Mr. Hanky?

I've been able to do this with lots of AIs. My last game I had higher tech than everyone else, and when they started a war I asked for surrender, all of their money and all of their planets and they gave them to me. This happened to the Iconians, the Yor, the Arcaceans and the Dregin all withing a few weeks! I do like that they are, in effect, surrendering, but it seems kinda funny for a civ to be handing over their only planet(s)...

I also noticed that the 'good' minor civs will gladly give you all of their money if you threaten them. Way too easy to exploit.

Forgive me, but Im really new to this game...."Dark Yor"?

Who are they?

And I have also noticed that if I have a stronger economy and military I can basically rob the minor races AI for all it's worth while forcing it to capitulate at the same time.

sometimes a nation/race might want to surrender to the one he is fighting just so that less of his people die if the battle is hopeless

somehow I think it makes sense

The Dark Yor are a minor race
and i noticed the whole peacy treaty-surrender thing 2

What difficulty level were you playing at? Ever since they toned down the diplomacy in the 1.1 betas, I can never get a civilization to give up a planet for a peace treaty, no matter how badly they are dominated. (I am forced to take it by force, but sometimes they surrender the planet I want to another race to spite me before I can get it.)

I’ve been playing the betas at Tough and I got roughly two thirds (rounded down though) of the planets of any given race in exchange for peace… never got all of their planets and they usually surrendered to a third party afterwards

I've noticed that aswell --the spite issue not the we surrender issue-- Everyone threatens me and demands tribute but the moment I start the BIG BEAT DOWN they surrender to someone else and then rub it in my face.... Wicked nasty Hobbitis....

What I tend to do, once I realize they are most definitely beat and they begin begging for peace, is to avoid going near their planets and to go on the defensive ...... just long enough for the troop ships to arrive at any planets I want. And I try to take all of them at once.

I don't know if that works at the higher levels or not, but it usually works at "challenging" and on down.
