Is it possible to get infinite stuff with high diplomacy?

I haven't actually tried this, but in principle, could I buy influence points for bc's, and then turn around and sell those same ip's back for more bc's than I paid (due to my high diplomacy)? If all transactions are better than 1:1, it seems like it should be possible, and I could relieve a race of all of its stuff. Anyone play around with this?

Well dunno. Before the latest patch (not sure about the latest or the beta) it was possible to buy money from the aliens to take all their money.

Since this has been fixed, I think the other one is probably fixed as well. But why don't you try it out?

I probably won't have time to try it, since my diplomacy sucks usually when I'm on my way to conquer the galaxy.

Basically, no. As it was said, before it was possible to buy money, and no it isn't. Which irritates me, seeing how I can offer 100bc and have it valued for, say, 20bc (that's not a real figure, just an example)

Shouldn't currency have a fixed value regardless of diplomacy? I mean, you may not like that race, but cash is cash.

It doesn't seem so. While high diplomacy will let you get techs & trade goods cheaply, they don't seem to value non-intellectual property the same way. I tried trading with a race who I had an incredible diplomatic advantage over. They were happy to give me all their techs for a single one of my Black Hole gun equipped super destroyers, but they wouldn't trade a single one of their weak mid-sized cruisers for it.

The same rule for IP seems to apply for money. I needed to offer 10,000,000 IP for 14,000 of theirs.
