Load Time Question

I don't think it's a bug so I'll put this in the normal game talk area. Anyway I noticed in the patch notes for v1.1b4 that is says save game load times are much much faster now. My question is compared to what? My load times are upwards of three minutes or more for a game that is on a huge galaxy map with 4-6 AI opponents, abundant stars and everything else set to common. Is this normal? Just curious what others see in terms of save game load times. I even tried defragging my hard drive to see if it helped to no avail.

You got me curious, so I put the stopwatch to it.
Same map and I think 5 opponents, well into a game.
40 seconds.

My basic system specs:
2.8GHz Pentium D (Dual Core)
3GB ram (and a smallish - 60MB - swap file)
Nvidia 6800GS
Maxtor 300GB HD

Lucky ----. It takes me that logn just to START a game on small with 5 opponents.

Hmmm... could be my RAM then. I do only have 640 MB. Only ... that's a laugh actually. I remember when 16MB was a monster rig . Also my CPU is a P4 1.4 GHz. So long as what I'm seeing would be typical for my system specs I'm fine with it. I just go get a drink or something while it is loading. One of these days I'll have the money to upgrade
