I was able to get to Irc chat and someone sugested to go to \My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 and delete the "perfs" file.

Might I suggest you get the 1.0x patch? It seems to be you are running the basic 1.0 release version which had some problems (card overheating I believe). Give it a try and see if it runs.

As for the "perfs" file, I believe he meant "Pref.ini" located in that folder. Which might help (as it will reset the game to default settings).

If that still doesn't help, then you might want to look up a new sound driver. It seems a little old.

I have updated to beta 4, I posted that just after I reinstalled. as for the sound driver, sound max is telling me to go to dell and I have never found a driver on dells site, do you have another recomendation?

I have updated to beta 4

obviously something is wrong here

I would suggest this : uninstall the game, delete the galciv2 install folder completely and reinstall, and update the game again, if after that you still get that beta revision difference I would delete (after backup) the folder :
My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2

no no no, sory I was unclear. I posted the debug after a fresh install, since then I have updated to beta 4. I have poor writing comprehention, and poor spelling as well.

hum, you know... there's no point in posting a debug.err which has nothing to do with your beta4 problem ...
anyway, did you try deleting the prefs.ini file or the folder ?

actualy, I had this problem with both the fresh install and beta 4 update. and yes I did delete the file a while ago and it worked, sory for dragging this out as long as I did.
