ZHAO Commonwealth

First things first, we need to design the starships which will take the ZHAO Commonwealth to the farthest reaches of space.... or a least to the regions of space near my own.

First up is the Z-1 'Auspicious' Class, the speediest colony ship money can buy (and technology can allow)

An Interesting Position

Well, since I don't know how many enemies I have, this should be very interesting. I think Dr. Zhao would be cursing himself for giving away the hyperdrive technology to every other species.... and that little advisor guy keeps reminding him of it.

Regardless, this is my initial position.




Forgot that humans don't have stellar cartography. Oh well :/
At the bottom of the screen is my second target for colonisation, a planet known only as 'Martin II'. We'll give it a better name when we get there. Actually, I might just give it a better name now. 'Kiki' sounds good. Just need one of those Z-1 ships to get there now. To the factories!

Now, to have a look at Earth itself. I named all the regions to give it more character. Trust northern Russia to be uninhabitable.


Hmmmm.... 300% bonus food from Europe, and 100% bonus industry in Persia. Zhao immediately turns all of Persia into a bunch of factories, and orders those factories to build more just next door in India. We can take advantage of Europe's immense food production later.

I could try and come up with a backstory as to why Taiwan appears to be the capital of the world . . maybe they could invade China with the help of Dr. Zhao and set up a new world order. Sounds good to me

The good doctor immediately buys his first Z-1 Colony Ship and waits patiently for it to be built.

Further exploration fully uncovers the Martin system. Dr. Zhao decides to kill the astronomer who named the star Martin, as he'd far rather call it 'Sluggy'. Alas, the astronomer is already dead, and it is impossible to rename such an important star as this one. Zhao can, however, rename the planets . . as you can see:


Heading towards the centre of the galaxy, the ZSS Inscrutable (the current ZHAO flagship) encounters an alien race. He wonders if it was one of those which was given the hyperdrive technology. Unfortunately, it is.


Zhao doesn't know what the odd robot is saying, but thinks it is probably 'Hello human meatbag, I'm going to kill you now'. Despite being unable to communicate, they do decided that the border between their two empires should run through the middle of the Cassius system. Dr. Zhao quickly names all of the planets here before the Yor beat him to it.


In better news, the first Auspicious colony ship has diverted from Kiki to land on the more promising Class 9 planet dubbed Oasis. Initial exploratory teams report an abudandance of flora and fauna which create no ethical dilemmas. Zhao sets about naming the regions on this newly founded planet.


Zhao is concerned. There are evil alien robots around, and he thinks they want to kill him. He must explore these nearby star systems to provide resources for a probable war in the future. To do this, his scientists unveil their newest creation, the Z-2 Magellan scoutship.
