Does AI build capital ships?

Hi,
i've played me third game now (2x large , 1x normal Galaxie), but I've never seen the Ai create a ship bigger than thin or small.

Is there anyone of you who could tell me that he has ever seen the AI to bild capital Ships?
The AI always come with 4-8 Ships in a Fleet ( just small Feighter etc.) and attack my Def-skillt medium-fleet like lemings.
I like that Game, but that would be a k.o.for it, if the AI is just that good because it knows the techtree better than I do .

Hope someone could tell me that I just have no luck with my attempts. BTW there are 5 opponents and the AI is set on Intelligent

I had the AI sending middle and large ships on a regular basis in nearly all longer games.
A fleet of 3 large Battlecruisers can be quite unnerving...

They do, toward the middle of the game you will see they send Capital ship toward you.


In fact the reason I started the last war with the Torian is because for some reason they park a battleship inside my border and doesn't move it out, pretty damn close to my planet too. I started the war to get rid of it
