First game, something strange

Alright. So I'm playing with 5 AIs and myself. One of them decides to hand their entire civilzation over to the terrans. The message said they were going to do it before they instead became annihilated. I figured, ok, on with the game. Then later another AI gives itself over to the Terrans. They had the most area claimed by their influence and many planets. They just said, oh, hey, we're giving ourselves up to the Terrans. Does this happen often? Out of the blue? I realize its my first game...but it seems QUITE odd.

It can do.... that's about the best answer anyone can give you. Sometimes the civs drop like flies and hand all their worlds over at the drop of a hat. Other games they stick around to at least the mid game before a few get wiped. It's not a constant thing but there is a thread around here on it from today thats got some ideas and examples in it.

From my experiences, the AI puts up a decent fight (based on its settings) and if it gets crushed it does throw in the towel. On a side note when I get crushed on the upper difficulty games I throw in the towel too rather than play it to the bloody end. I'll just note my revenge and start a new game.
