German version GalCiv2

Ob es die 1.0X oder 1.0 ist ist noch nicht ganz klar, zumindest meldet es sich als 1.0.
Aber: da der 1.1 für Sontag angekündigt wurde denke ich das spätestens nächste woche alles "ok" ist.

Also packs ruhig aus und spiel, auch die Basisversion macht spaß

btw. its 1.0, I tested the ability to enter numbers e.g. when trading money, and this isn't possible.

mehr fehler, das mag teils an der komplexität liegen, aber "Unterraum waffen" und "Schanner" sind einfach nur zum kaputtlachen, freu mich auf 1.1...

Anderseits Stardock ist nach meiner Erfahrung 1st Klasse im Kundenservice. Bezgl. Patches dies sind meistens Erweiterungen, zumindest war es bei GalCiv 1 so. So wird dies nicht der letzte Patch gewesen sein. Zumindest ca. 6 Monate bis 1 Jahr werden immer wieder Updates rauskommen denke ich.

Ihr solltet auch in der Lage sein, mit der Seriennummer die komplette englische Version runterzuladen.

Well, that's what I was afraid would happen. Stardock says "Paradox is your contact", and Paradox says "Stardock is your contact!" -- and the people getting the short end of the stick are those who bought the German version.

The only positive aspect here is that the key(s) that come(s) with the German version enable you to download the full, registered copy of GalCiv2 through Stardock Central. That's about 1 GB of data. Downloading this will cost me about thirty Euro and "block" my computer for about 25 hours (ISDN only), but seeing that neither Stardock nor Paradox claim responsibility and say, "Sorry guys, that shouldn't have happened, we'll work on this and get a fix to you ASAP!", doesn't give me much hope that the German version of GalCiv2 will ever get frequent, timely updates. So, I'll bite the bullet, because the *game* is good and I want to play it for a long time ... but I'm a bit disappointed how this is being handled.

There ARE sime translationbugs and glitches, but they will be fixed, I'm really shure. Maybe not in 1.1 but there will be a relase. Important is that these sentences are noted. You should make a list with these sentences and them post it to the bug-forum, write where this appears, whats the problem and what it sould become. Doing this you are helping the developers VERY much, because it's easy to change this. But someone has to write where the problem is, otherwhise it won't be fixed.

Unfortunately, SDC doesn't seem to resume files if you cancel the download (there's no "stop" button, just a "cancel" one), so I can't use the time "windows" of inexpensive CbC providers, but have to use my "regular" ISP. While I was sleeping, I downloaded the base game and the multimedia part. Now onto the 233 MB tutorials and the 551 MB of movie materials. Oy vey. My biggest worry is that the connection gets interrupted during those large downloads. I'm not sure why SDC doesn't seem to support auto-resuming of partial downloads, though.

Well, the lesson to be learned here is to stay away from German localizations from "smaller" developers and distributors. Then again, I'm glad that GalCiv2 is available through retail outlets over here, I just wish this whole patching mess had been avoided by testing this before.

matb wrote this and it workes, the german version needs some manual work after patching, but you can even get it working with german texts, but the link above will make the 24h-download unneeded

Hi Fans. As it is not possible to run with the 1.0 patch the german version correctly - so please tell me which bugs are in the german version?
