Late Game Research

Focused Factory World > Research World?

Allright, I apoligize if this is old hat or anything, I'm kind of new at this.

Anyway, I'm noticing that particularly in the late game, a planet loaded with factories, supported by starbases, then set to focus on research will produce more research then a world equally loaded with actual research building. It's bad enough that I've got planets pumping out 8000+ military hammers, and I have to wonder if they are really supposed to be able to refocus to produce 2500+ beakers, when even my absolute best research world can't touch that amount.

Perhaps it's just that the industrial sector produces so much, that even after the shave down for refocusing producing, it's still outproducing discovery spheres. But I can't help but wonder if it's supposed to be doing this.

Thoughts anyone?

The best factory produces almost the same as the best lab. How many production bonus tiles do those planets have compared to your research bonus tiles? How high is your social and military production bonus? How many starbases do you have boosting these planets? 1000mp is the highest i've gotten in any game, and I was already set to conquer the gigantic galaxy with ease at that point.

8000 hammers? One world? Explain that one.

Well, 7200 shields at 100% military utilization

11 Industrial Sectors, a manufacturing capitol, a moon, and a load of fully upgraded starbases providing a total bonus of 350%. I did say late game.

Perhaps it's the capitol doing this? I had a manufacturing capitol on the world in question, but it's research equivalent had a research capitol, I would've expected them to offset.
