I'm beginning to feel all alone...

Does ANYONE else play 'Stars!' and was bummed with 'Stars! Supernova Genesis' turned into vaporware?

I never played the original Stars!, but I was definitely looking forward to its sequel. I too was very disappointed the game became vaporware--it had a lot of potential.

I've played Stars! I have it on my old laptop that can't run much else. Overall I think it is a great game, but it has a bit too much that you can customize and micromange for me. And I didn't find the interface as intuitive as a game like that should be, but I do like playing it.

Stars! is pretty much my favourite game of all time. I still have a folder somewhere on my computer with a bunch of screenshots and wallpapers from when S!SNG was in development. I don't understand how they could have folded, I mean, they gave out free beer at E3!

Part of the reason that I like GalCiv so much is that it's the closest any game has come to Stars!

I've played Stars! PBEM and Blitz's over IRC for years... And yea Supernova looked awesome, Just wish a friend of mine who was a Beta/Alpha tester wouldn't share

Stars! ship combat is much more advanced that GC2, due to ship components (jammers/battle-computers, engine speed, cloaking, etc.), and also due to race-specific unique abilities.

I've just made suggestions to GC2 for more richer ship combat similar to Stars!

Do chip in should you also desire richer GC2 ship combat, which is currently:
-the economics of higher damage output vs. higher defense ships
-the economics of small ships vs. medium ships (and medium ships can somewhat skip the Logistics techs...)

Stars! was great, now is still great, future is great too. GC2 still have ways to go before beating Stars! in every game aspect. Stars! was beaten by piracy I guessed, So hope GC2 does fall into its shoes. Well, when news of Stars! Supernova become a dream, many fans was sadden but only few realised that piracy may be the cause. Some fans have been searching for a Stars! replacement, some accepted GC2, other found SE4 and so on but still many wanted the Supernova to be out. We hope there will be 1 day, 1 company, 1 large sum of money, 1 big production to produce Supernova and then generates Years of fun, Years of great sales, Years of Profits and years of many more great Sequel. Also hope the GC2 can catch up and produce more Sequels, bearing in mind the sucess of Stars! and learning from its mistakes.

Yes I used to play stars all the time. That game is the reason I bought Galactic Civ 2. I liked the way frighters went from planet to planet collecting resourses from your miners.
