Graphics zoom and perspective display glitch

numeric (4 & 6) keys move ship and zoom main screen at same time

Known glitch?  Initiate combat - view switches to full battle display - return from battle - numeric keypad 4 & 6 keys now move ships AND zoom main display at same time.
Execute a few zooms via keypad and the display picks up progressively greater spherical distortion at sides and lower edges.  Clicking on "FIND" stops the aberrant zoom behaviour until the next cutaway and return from full battle screen.  Once the perspective distortion kicks in, the only way to restore normal graphics perspective display is to save, quit, restart and GC2.

I get this too. Is it on the list of things to fix yet?? I haven't noticed if it is specifically linked to going into combat or not, but it happens frequently enough that in my current game I'm at the point of having to save-exit-restart GC2 every couple of turns - very annoying.

I'm running Windows XP Home, SP2, my video card is an ATI Radeon 9600 SE. I updated my video drivers to the latest to see if that would fix it but it hasn't. I play the game at 1280 x 1024.

I have noticed some of the gameplay glitches reported by other people but this is the only one that is currently really annoying me. If you need more details on this let me know and I'll see what I can do to help.

Okay, I noticed that after downloading & installing the latest ATI Catalyst driver package there is a new ATI icon on my desktop & taskbar, in addition to the one previously there. It seems to make a difference which of these I use to change my display resolution (our computer is normally left at 800 x 600 but I set it to 1280 x 1024 to play GC2). I am well into a game during which I have used only the new ATI icon for setting resolution, and have not had this problem happen once since taking this approach.

I don't know how to explain this, is it possible I am somehow using the old drivers by using the previous ATI icon to set resolution? Anyhow I seem to have found the way to get rid of or bypass this problem on my computer.

I experience the sam kind of problem, too. I've a ATI 9600 and the latest catalyst drivers wich i had installed after i encountered the problem, but it did not help much. in addition, all planets and ships in the overviews start rotating at warp 9 or so a few seconds after teh window opened which can make you quite mad. anyone out there who has got the sam kind of probs and is there already a fix to it out there?
