2K Games and Firaxis Games came out with a trifecta of announcements regarding new PC properties. First off, the companies announced an expansion to the popular turn-based strategy game, Sid Meier's Civilization IV and is planning to push it out this Summer. The all new expansion dubbed Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Warlords, will pay "homage to some of history's greatest military leaders, delivering six new scenarios, giving players the chance to change the course of history with the help of their new powerful 'warlord' unit." The expansion will include new civilizations, leaders, units, resources and wonders that can be used in the single-player campaign and multiplayer games.
Secondly the publisher/developer tag team announced two new titles from the house that Sid built. Firaxis hopes that they can reinvent the Railroad Tycoon franchise with the release of its latest iteration, Sid Meier's Railroads!. The title will include the best of real and model railroads, putting you in charge of creating an empire. Players will be able to run "everything from steam-powered locomotives to more modern diesel and electric trains, managing cargo and your bottom line" all while fending off corporate rivals. Sid Meier's Railroads! for the PC is steaming in for a Fall 2006 release.
Lastly the team announced a new city building strategy game, CivCity: Rome, allowing players to build the imperial power from a small village to what it once was. The title is to feature hundreds of buildings including "gladiatorial schools, amphitheatres, the circus maximus, legionnaire forts, weapons workshops and much more." Firaxis and Firefly Studios will team up on this one in hopes of offering "the most detailed look at Roman life ever depicted on a computer screen." CivCity: Rome will be creating this Summer.
