Need held deleting old ship designs for new game

I just finished my first game and want to start a new game on a larger map. Near the end of my first game, once I had researched all hull sizes, I created base ship designs that I want to carry over from game to game.

My designs consist only of hulls and extras (no components). During the course of my first game I had both deleted and obsoleted a bunch of designs as I upgraded.

Before starting my new game I went into the mygames/ships folder and deleted all the other designs in there that I no longer wanted. When I started the new game I checked the research tree and it is listing some of my designs (old designs and the new designs) with a lot of late researched techs on them as prerequisites. I checked the mygames/ships folder and all of the old designs were back in the folder. This happened repeatedly so it wasn't a one time glitch.

I went back into a saved game from my first game and tried upgrading my designs and adding in a basic hyperdrive only since it is a starting tech. So now in mygames/ship folders I have two types of files for my designs - name.shipclass (I think this is the hull only) and name.shipcfg (I think this is the hull with the hyperdrive).

Each time I try to start a new game the tech tree is listing my designs with a lot of techs on them that I didn't save them with.
And it keeps putting my old designs back in the folder.

Does anyone know how to permanently delete the old designs and how I can get the new designs I want to keep to be in the new game?

Hmm...when I get into the office I'll try and reproduce this issue. Are you running the latest version from Stardock central?

I had the same issues, I thought that maybe the update changed the ships location, I haven't finished my game so I haven't looked for the new location yet.

What you can do is go into the shipyard and delete the old designs from there and they will not show back up. Make a directory named hulls in the ships directory and put all your hulls in there. Then you can highlight them and copy to the ships directory at the start of a new game.

Thanks for the ideas.

I have a seperate folder that i am keeping my designs in.

What I ended up doing was deleting all my saved games and deleting all the files in the mygames/ships folder and starting a new one. That kept all the unwanted designs from showing back up.

What i am doing now and what i hope will work is the following: I started a new game on a large map with only one opponent and made them friendly to me. I made the research rate as high as possible and put all my ability points into reseach. I built a few factories and research labs on every planet i could colonize. I put as much money as possible into research and just researched hulls only. Within about 45 minutes of just going through turns and ignoring everything else i was able to research up to superior hulls and nothing else. I am recreating my designs as closely as possible with only a hyperdrive on them. Once that is done, I am hoping when a start a new game for real my designs will show up and there shouldn't be any problem with other pre-requisite techs b/c I haven't researched any. I'll keep my basic designs in a separate folder that I copy in whenever I start a new game.

I hope this might help any one else who has a similar problem.
