Direct Download

For dial-up users

I was wondering if there is a way to get GC2 via direct download. I have dialup at home and want to grab the files from the local library onto a USB drive.

Even if you don't offer the *entire* game for d/l, it'd be nice to offer a 90% complete zip. Then, I could finish my StarDock download from home in a reasonable amount of time.

Well, Stradock Central have some nice feature, like an archive feature, but that will means to install it and desintall it after. Not to mention you must have the needed rights to do it.

BTW, the base game (without multimedia, tutorial and movies) is around 100 megas.

I understand that SD is nice. I'm not anti-SD or anti-Steam or anything else. I see this as the way I'll buy everything in the future.

That being said, developers/publishers need to be aware of the fact that a lot of people don't have broadband yet. Some of us just can't get it in our area.

As is stands, I'll have to leave my modem on all weekend just to get this game that I've anticipated since I got hooked on GalCiv1.

All this could have been avoided if the publisher would put, in the list of downloads, a "starter file" that would have contained 90% of the content required to play.
