Screenshots

When I play the game and take a screen shot, I either have to Alt Tab out of the game and paste it into Photoshop, wait a gazillion years for the game to re-load and continue, or I have to wait until I finish the scenario and thenpaste the screen shot.

Could you wonderful guys at Stardock create a printscreen function, like F12, whereby the screenshots are automatically put into your galciv screenshots dir and numbered automatically? I would really love this, as I take lots and lots of screenshots to share with my friends....

There are a few third party programs that do this for you.

One I particuarly like is fraps (Link). It can also record video. However the free version has limits on the video (with a watermark), and I think can only print to a BMP. But at least it stores it for you so you can take multiple pictures and batch convert them later.

If you can afford it though, it is worth buying,, cheap and very powerful tool.

There are also others, but I don't know of them.

The latest patch I think fixes this. At least since installing it I notice that my Gal Civ session restores a lot faster then it had previously.

I got this link from someone else on the forums... can't remember who it was (Sorry!)...
but, it's for a free program called Hoversnap Link
you have to scroll down a little bit to find it.

it uses the Print Screen button, but then saves the image automatically in whatever folder you want the images saved to... and you can even choose to save them as jpeg, bmp, or png files. It works really well for me. No more alt-tab or windowed mode.
