Multiplayer in Expansion

just want to do a little prevoting

I know that the developers willl probably do there own vote but i just want to c what people on here think bout mulitplayer features and what type of multiplayer features they think should be included

so the choices are

A Galciv2 is a single player game note the SINGLE PLAYER
B I only play on Lan and play by email and sometimes hotseat anyways so as long as those are in it im fine
C I want everything online, lan, hotseat galciv2 will pwn as a multiplayer game and badly needs it

when u vote try to only vote for the options that you see yourself using on a regualr basis and dont just vote for it because it might be fun to play once and then drop off and never use it again.

I want B.2

Basically I don't care for an 'online' version wherein you connect to stardock's servers and match with a random opponent, but I don't want to have to take my computer to my friend's house to play. I want to be able to set myself up as the server, forward the correct ports in my firewall, and have him connect to my external IP address as a client, in addition to LAN/email/hotseat.

I would like B, more specifically, I would like Hotseat, since that's already sorta-kinda in the game anyway.

I would like the option of B for the Hotseat also, but it depends on what we would lose because of it. If they spend there time on making it multiplayer then we are losing something else because they only have so much resources so therefore I can't give a direct answer. Online, I don't know if that is worth the effort. It would take forever to finish a game, and a lot of people would quit if they felt they were going to lose. Not many people want to spend hours when they knew there cause was lost long ago.

after thinking bout it i myself would probably go for A because im mainly a one player guy and the only games that iplay on multiplayer are RTS and those take awhile and are hard to finish a TBS to finish would be murder

personally i would like to c the best single player expierence but thats just me

I usually do not post on websites, but i always read them , but let me say congrats to everyone involved in the developement of the product. They Developed a really nice game, and have restored my faith in this genre. i can look fondly back on Moo2, and put the game away , and immerse myself in the universe that is Galciv. Though if you can throw in a sexy barbarin babe race, i would grin from ear to ear . ( hence my screenname ) .

I would like to play this game through a LAN, with my significant other, for this is something that we like to do. I would also like to play this game with the online community. So if i do not get Multiplayer, i'd be sad. but i love this game, and all you developers, and gamers who supported them have done a good thing.

B - make it official and fine-tune the system.

Then maybe galciv3, there can be a multiplayer online

A - there are enough multiplayer games out there as is. seems everytime something good goes to multi player mod alot is left out and causes more problems than already xsist.

Yes, it "badly needs it", because it's not topping sales charts already at all...

I vote A, incidently.

A - I want all developer effort spent on enhancing the single-player experience

Hm... personally I am more single player person but having MP would be nice .

B and C, I like all of my friends love the single player experience but we have a want to form an alliance and conquer the galazy on the largest map together.

B would be good for some of it but we would need networking to play together most of the time hence why I said C.

This game is without a doubt good in single player but it can have great potential in multiplayer. Personally when my friends and I consider multiplayer we consider nothing really have changed except maybe the ability to alter stuff on your planets like whats being built, what the planets focusing on,look at information and build ships while waiting for the other player(s) to finish their turn. Other than that it should act like the game is paused, you can't actually have time pass while you wait for the other player(s) so no moving ships no buildings actually being built, just the ability to decide what is going to be built or demolished for it begins immediately doing that task on your next turn.

Anywho that was my two cents.

Frankly, I prefer A. The reason is if there is a choice between adding another campain, more goodies, expanded techs, etc and rounding out teh game more or adding multiplayer, I would prefer the former. Given that stardock still is going to be bound by limited time and budget, new better single player is a better choice.

I say C, just to have it. At the very least B, maybe with direct IP connects as well.

Of course, this poll isn't scientific- as generally, the most hardcore gamers tend to be on forums, the ones who make the majority of the MP community.

I want to be able to play with other humans. Its more fun. Groups of friends will have more fun playing online than singleplayer. Empires will have a chance to battle it out for bragging rights.

I vote B or C long as i get to go head to head with other human players.

Ive had much fun with civ series, imperium galactica, MOO2, and other land/space building empire tbs games to simple dismiss the idea of multplayer in GC.

I'd say A. GalCiv2 is an incredible sucess made possible primarily to their dedication to the single-player experience. They have made a single player game. As far as I am concerned you can tack that onto the genre: SP4X. I can't really find merit in hot-seat, as I like the metaverse pretty well. You can also come up with metamultiplayer on your own: You and a friend play two identical games, see who finishes first, highest score, etc. I feel this is certainly a you-vs-computer type of game.

A ftw.

I have to agree with Josh Alexander.

A ftw.

A. I want the focus to be on improved A.I,new spying system, exploration, etc.

A , I really cant see myself playing online, epecialy when the AI is a formidable opponent. But it would really put me off purchasing the expansion if the main emphasis is multiplayer with a few new maps and ship components chucked in for good measure to detract away from this.

A. I'll never play online or on a lan. Enhanced AI then enhanced features.
