blender import x files

Is it possible to import x files into Blender? Or will only 3ds max, studio max do it?

$4000 for studio max?!? wtf?

3DS Max won't, Blender will with a plugin (site was up a few days ago...). The functionality isn't perfect though, I recommend just using the .3ds files that mormegil posted

Maybe you also want to look at this shareware tool: http://web.t-online.hu/karpo

It can import x files and save to 400 different file types (a blender file format can be found too)

Has someone got an idea about hard points - how to add/edit hard points with blender? After import of the x file I do not see anything like this ...

OK, to answer to question myself: The hard points should be "empties" in blender.

To export it correctly afterwards you must have version 2.41 and the directx export script from this site: http://projects.blender.org/projects/directxexporter/

Unfortunately I found no way (at the moment) to import those empties from existing x files.

This may be a big duh if you haven't done this. Me being a total noob (Newb or Nub) I didn't have python installed on my computer. All those import/export scripts are ran in python. Which can be obtained free over at www.python.org

Like oh my god was I dumb. Solved my issues with getting stuff into Blender.

I guess I didn't have to have python either to do civ 4 modding the game compiled the scripts and whatever.. so I never installed it or felt I needed to. Until now,
