Panetary Invasion CTD

I have a saved game in which any time that I attempt to invade a planet, the game immediately crashes to desktop. It does not matter which planet I am invading, which race I am attacking, which transport(s) I am using to invade, or how many turns have passed since loading the saved game. I have tested this extensively, and have found that ANY attempt at invasion (on my part) will ALWAYS result in an immediate CTD. In other games (and earlier in this same game) I have never had this problem, or any similar problem.

My computer:

Pentium D 2.80 GHz
Windows XP Media Center Edition (Service Pack 2)
GeForce 6800 256 MB, ForceWare version 81.98 (up to date)
1 GB RAM

Let me know if there is any additional information that I can provide. I can provide the saved game file if needed, and the "debug.err" file (although I cannot open it).

Hey Frogboy I got the same problem with a game on the lastest release patch. If I apply this test patch, can I load the save game that is giving me the trouble or will it only work on new games?

Hmmm, well, unfortunately after the new patch I still CTD'd on my first planetary invasion. The app didn't shut down, it just locked up and went black.

When I windowed out of the app to shut it down with the task manager, I noticed that it was taking up 522 meg of memory. Not sure if that would be related, or if it's just a case of GalCiv using all the resources it's allowed to.

I'll send in my debug file ASAP.
