Will AI trade tech to their enemies?

I'm aware that once I trade a tech to an AI civilization, that tech will quickly spread amongst the other AIs. I've run into situations where I want to help a certain civ with a tech trade but I don't want that tech to wind up in the hands of my enemy.

Will AIs trade weapons tech to civs they have strained relations with?

They will, but they'll demand a trade more favorable to themselves, so it usually doesn't happen directly. What usually happens is that the civ you sell the tech to will sell it to a neutral third party, who will then sell it to who you and the civ in question are at war with.

I've even seen the AI trade tech to the Pirates
