What is a drengin?

I know they are pure evil.. They look like highly evolved apes and thats about it. They clearly are meant to be seen as something else as they call humans mammals and apes, What gives? It tells me what most of the other races origins are reptile, insect etc.. so what is a drengin?

look in the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy under vogons, except the leathery green skin that allows him to withstand huge amounts of underwater preasure, the attitude and origins apply

In the Databanks section, there is information on the different races in the game.

Here is a link to the civilizations section where you will find info on the Drengin (among other races):

Vogons dont take slaves, Drengin dont blow up planets.

Rather the Drangin blow up star systems.

Lestways, They used to (I dont think that Terror Stars are in GCII)

so what are they, turtles?

Drengins aren't bureaucrats like Vogons, they just shoot you, skin you, tear the bones off and burst you in flames before you have the time to say "Peace".

The race info provided at ign does not answer my question, What is a drengin? Is it a mammal a reptile or an insect.. perhaps something completely differint? Still a massive hole in the drengin backstory.

They evolved from angry koala bears (see: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c54/catszanyss/koaladrengin.jpg) and have an insatiable urge to run over turtles with wheeled vehicles.

vogons import tons of magnifficant jeweld turtles from their homeworld every year and spend one booze filled night smasjing them to bits with mallets (see the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy series, book one i think)

Not to be rude but this is kind of a silly question. The Drengin are an alien race that did not evolve on earth. The odds of true mammals, as they are on earth, evolving elsewhere is like a billion to 1. Likewise for insects or reptiles.

Drengin are Drengin. I suppose you could ask for a deep biological background of their homeworld, complete with scientific species distinctions. That seems like a bit more work then one should really require from these good folks though. They're sort of still working on the game play.

He's asking for what they're an analog of... warm blooded? Cold blooded? (There are some other things in there that are involved in "yes its a mammal" but I dont' understand the biology of them, so oh well) and those aren't really "this is an ****"" question as "whats it like" question.

Ever see Planet of the Apes? Know what a Klingon is? How about Apophis? Combine all three, and you have the Drengin. Evil talking carniverous monkeys from hell.

I still say it's a silly question. If you really care look at them and decide for yourself.

I think the large number of silly answers sort of supports my claim

Psychotic koalas that supertasked their own evolution. END OF STORY.

Now, the Snathi...Man...I have disturbing nightmares with them...

Not to be rude but.. I never said it had to be a true mammal or earth like creature I was simply trying to get the point out there.. You really should read a post before you comment I clearly said Mammal reptile insect or something completely differint, I was looking for someone to reply that might have been involved in the process of adapting the books to the games current storyline.. not a flame

Glad you put the not a flame tag. I'm really not try to be a jerk about this either

With that said, I really just find the question "silly" because it seems like a pretty small detail. I wouldnt be surprised if the developer doesnt even have an answer to it. I've always just filled in those small random things in games my self, seems like part of the fun.

My favorite responce to your question was the angry koala bears btw. I would be massively impressed if spazzykid whipped up that picture in the link just for the post.

A mammal is just something that has mammaries, and I don't see any.

I think they look more like Teddy Ruxpin, or Gremlins (from "Gremlins"). Or even an Ewok/Yoda hybrid. The thought of fighting a race of Teddy Ruxpins, especially giant ones with fusion-powered batteries, is quite scary.

You cant see the chest of the drengin.. They are covered with hair and may well be warm blooded which are the other requirements for being mammal.. Also its probably safe to assume the drengins we see are male as with the other species. And the backstory to my preferred race is not minor to me in any respect, I am sure someone out there appreciates games having a strong storyline other than myself
