Erratic graphics behaviour on dual cpu

My Athlon X2 64 4400 machine, shows the graphics WAY 2 fast on Windows XP, however after setting the affinity to only one CPU this works as a charm.

How do you change this setting?
I use AMD 64 X2 4200

After you launch in the game, alt-tab back to your desktop. Right click on your task bar and choose "task manager" or hit ctrl-alt-delete and click the "task manager" button. When the Task Manager window pops up, chose the "processes" tab and find the GalCiv2.exe process (i think thats what it's called, but i'm at work and cant remember). Right click on it and chose "set affinity". A window will pop up with some check boxes. With a dual core processor, CPU 0 and CPU 1 will be checked. Uncheck CPU 1, hit ok, close the task manager, and alt-tab back into the game.

This works to clear up a LOT of issues from some various games, so try it out on any game you're having weird crashes or jumpy graphics on. (This even worked for me to make Firefox stop getting all jittery when it was showing an animated GIF file).

AMD X2 4400+ here also. I was seeing some jumpiness in the fleet battle scenes, especially right before a ship would explode. I also had some issues with Alt-Tab to switch and application. When I came back, the screen would be black. If I hit esc several times to get to an options screen, I could get video back, and the game would proceed as normal. (Running SLI eVGA 7800GT 256mb each), Also using 1680 X 1050 Dell widescreen LCD monitor.

I would alt tab back into black screen as well with my 7800 and dual core amd.. However, if I wated long enough (usually 5-10 seconds), everything would return and be fine.

Problems here too AMD 64 X2 3800+

Thanks for the link, I'll try some of those fixes when I get home tonight. I'll also see if there are any chip set updates for my mainboard as well.
