I can't build a mining starbase on a resource

In my recent game, I replaced the constructors with a faster ship that has constructor modules, and I obsoleted the original constructor.

I then discovered that I cannot actually build new mining starbases anymore - the new ships (Builders) will not automatically build a starbase when they hit the resource, and if I choose "construct", then I'll only get the regular menu of influence/military/economy starbases. I think I'm totally blocked out of building mining starbases, unless I'm missing something.

I had this problem as well, and my guess at the time was that it was caused by the destruction of the original starbase on the resource. The resource was even showing up in the list of ships in the parsec along with the new (non-mining) starbase.

I have seen this before, we are trying to track it down. When I had it I saved the game and restarted GalCiv2. When I loaded the game again it seamed to be back to normal. Give that a try and let us no if it helps.

I had the same problem several times yesterday, and save and reload did help indeed.

I had the same issue but save/load did not help. It was not a huge issue since I just stationed a fleet there to kill off any constructors that approached them, but it was annoying.
