I got exactly the same problem. I installed WB5, activated it, rebooted, and every time I tried to run it, it demanded a reboot.
For now, I'm sticking with WB4, as I don't have time to fiddle with it. I suspect that it involves WB5 not being allowed to make system/registry changes, and that if I deactivated all my firewall, antivirus, and antispyware I could install successfully, but not sure I want to do that.

I run WinXP, also legit, and I suspect that it involves WB5 not being allowed to make system/registry changes, and that if I deactivated all my firewall, antivirus, and antispyware I could install successfully, but not sure I want to do that.

The problem is indeed caused by apps deleting / not permitting certain WB registry entries from being written.
Disable all your antispyware apps & reinstall WB.
If you have the 64 bit version, try running wbinstall64 -install
Then reboot.
