Crash whilst trying to save new ship design

I had researched the Ion II engine so designed a new Colony ship incorporating the new engine. I clicked Save and nothing happened. When i clicked Done, the new design was not saved. After exiting the design screen I came across the save dialog box prompting me to save the design. on clicking yes, the game crashed to desktop.

I guess this might be covered by the know 12 issues...
