Starbases and the Combat Viewer.

I have seen lots of screenshots of ship vs ship battles in GalCiv2 (and they look very nice). Havent seen any starbases involved in any of them. What happens if an enemy attacks your starbase? Do we go to the combat viewer? Or do we get a GalCiv1 type animation (that would be a shame).

Thanks!

It has already been asked and answered in the forum. You should really look around. It was said that yes the starbases do show up in the combat viewer and they are huge.

Really? i thought they didn't.

It depends on your settings. You can choose to have all battles involving your forces show up in the combat viewer. Alternatively, you could set it for no battles or fleet battles only.

yes, Starbases do appear (if you want to) in the combat viewer.
You have to check (or uncheck, I dont remember) in the preferences a box asking whether you want battles to be displayed with fleet alone or not.

Ok so they appear, but I guess what im asking as well is do they participate? What if there is no defending fleet?

And thanks for the responses.

As you research techonology for starbases you can add weapon and defense modules to them. They will of course use whatever modules you build on them. It is better to have some ships close by to help if possible because a starbase could be overwhelmed by a fleet.
