A request for the devs

I bought GalCiv waaaay back near when it was first released, and enjoyed it a lot at first. After a while, though, I started getting frustrated with how dramatically the gameplay dynamic would change after some of the patches.

To avoid that kind of frustration, I was wondering if GalCiv2 (in a patch, of course) could implement some kind of "classic mode" or a set of rule options to tweak. In "classic mode" the game would be set to essentially the same rules and AI as when it was shipped. A rules configuration screen would be more work to implement, but would allow finer control. Either way people can play with older rulesets and AI configurations if they'd prefer to. Games played with the older ruleset probably shouldn't be submittable to the Metaverse, or should score fewer points if the are submittable.

There is a solution for that, if you download from SDC you can always archive the older versions and reinstall it if the new patches don't meet your criteria.

Patches in Galciv II are divided into 4 catagories:

Core - Updates the GalcivII game itself (E.G An update could include a new starbase module.)

Multimedia - Updates the music, Sound effects and similar (Example of an update would be a new piece of music)

Movies - You know when you first do something? (Find an anomaly, Colonise/Invade a planet, etc) and start up the game? Movie updates affect theese

But like it has been said, If you want to keep an older copy, Tick the "Archive on application update" box.
