I am new to the GalCiv universe, so if someone could be so kind as to explain what the purpose of joining something like this would be, that would be great.

I am in a BF2 and WoW clan, we play to excel and compete and whatnot...but there is no multiplayer in GalCiv2. Why join up with other people?

You really do not have to join up with anyone. As there is not direct conflict in the metaverse its more about bragging rights on how much territory your empire has carved out versus the other empires. Heck you can sign up and have your own empire with just a couple of clicks and sign in.

Some folks out on the Metaverse put some demands on you as to how they would like you to win, how often you must play. The pretty cool ones simply just open the door and let you in, let you choose. As a Kat Lord I believe in that policy.

Good luck and keep abreast of the forums, there is a plethora of good knowledge here and a font of worthless too for that matter.

Hello Suralle,

I am looking to join a good easy going empire, but being new to this, I have some questions. I'm most likely not going to be winning many games, as I want to challenge myself and keep the difficulty high. What is more important to empire scores, an easy difficulty win or a higher difficulty defeat? I saw in the metaverse that they have W/L stats, I wouldn't want to be the one to score all the losses...

easy games = less points. hard games = more points.

I like multiplayer games, but I was looking for something different with GalCiv2. Is there any empire that is planning on doing game examples/battle reports and various fiction short stories and whatnot? I guess you could do that here, in the forums, but I was looking at something where your empire could share and critique your work in a more flame free atmosphere...though these forums are pretty tame in comparison to the vast majority.

Well I can guarantee as Suralle Straykat and his mate Che-Rene continue throughout the metaverse that the story shall continue for them.

I am sure that Mr. Wardell has a story or more about his character(s) and from what I have seen he is not afraid of posting them either.

Personally, this is my way of finally expressing an interest in writing sci-fi / fantasy that I have entertained for years. A big difference from what I started writing underway on submarines... short stories... ala more erotica than anything. (They got rave reviews from the crew, CO on down until they stopped when the COB figured out that someone onboard was actually penning them!) hehahaheheh.

Looks liek you need lots of practice. Thing to note it's not the difficulty that coutns as much as it is the map size and the type of victory. Military victory gives the most points right now.

I'm trying to finish another game to submit but its goign a bit slow since I'm using hte beta and they really turned up the habitable planet ratio.

Wow you were right about the map size and points.
Just finished a simple huge game, by Military win and got 10X my last games score!!

Cool. Oh and if I don't recommend playing on anything lower than simple, because there is NO A.I. in cakewalk or easy. Simple is pretty simple too

Okay, now that I have nuked out how to win the beta expect to see a few more scores posted. Telling ya, its tough when you select the no trade option on technology. My ships tend to be more advanced than 90% of the aliens but not by much, just enough it seems.

I should be intown for the next week but after that its off to PA.

Okay after doing some comparitive analysis (in other words just looking through the scores of the top 50 folks) there is something going on in the suicidal range. Way to many folks winning there where there shouldn't be any ie: If the games designer (Frogboy) can't win there and the games developer (CariElf) can't win there regularly than there is an exploit or a bug.

The "Sweet Spot" Frogboy is referring to in game time has to be about 12 years. Again after reviewing scores things seem to come to ahead about the 12 year point on the whole (not the average).

New scoring is working, please make sure that you have the most current beta if you want to maximize your score. (remember you do not have to, Kats make their own way in the world).

On a more personal note my kitty Maddie Lynn was all up on my last night at 0300 eastern wanting attention so if you see some irate posts from me in the forum blame her. (like have the 3rd most games posted and only have 18% of my score being counted....) Although I have been trying to fix that through more military scores the last one didn't move my total by more than a fraction of a single percent.

Well, I will be damned as a kat.

Lady Che-Rene, has become the first kat in history to actually give this kitten not only a fathers day gift! A 29 Gallon aquarium equipt with Terran plants and some hardy Terran fish.

Now she has gone and got me a brand new (at least for me) video card for this archaic PC. Standby world, we have entered into a new millenia, space age even. Move over nvidia 5200 with all the problems that the CariElf person had to cope with. Today its a (new for me) ATI Radeon 1300 Pro.

Life has never been so good, two presents one week. This KAT has died and gone to heaven!

I joined Kat Lords. Hope that's good. I'm a new player, just posted my 2nd win. Next game will be "tough" difficulty, gigantic universe, and conquest victory. Hoping to see a good score off that.
